The Program
The Chrysler Network Diversity and Dealer Development Program was developed in 1983 to create dealership opportunities for persons of African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and Alaskan descent with a demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit.
The program provides assistance to ethnic minority general manager candidates who have automotive retail experience, but lack sufficient capital to operate and own a dealership. We recruit and place qualified ethnic minority general managers into Chrysler Marketing Investment dealerships with the intent for them to become sole owners of the dealership. The program requires joint contribution (stock interest) of capital by the general manager candidate and Chrysler with Chrysler initially contributing the largest percentage.
In addition, we canvass the market in search for qualified ethnic minorities who have the capital and experience to own and operate a dealership, but lack access to potential buy/sell opportunities. The program helps these individuals navigate through the process of locating and purchasing dealerships as private capital owners.

Candidate Selection Process
The Chrysler Network Diversity and Dealer Development (CNDDD) department and the local Business Center (regional field office) reviews the general manager candidate applications and invites the candidates that appear to have the best experience along with the available unencumbered capital for a panel interview.
The panel which consists of the local Business Center, CNDDD manager, Marketing Investment Manager and a local Chrysler Minority Dealers Association dealer interviews the candidates and selects the top candidate.
The top general manager candidate is installed as an operator/ general manager when a Marketing Investment dealership becomes available.
